Sarah Palin seemed like a caricature of herself

Last night in the debate Sarah Palin seemed like a caricature of herself

When preparing to watch the debate I was expecting to see a lot of car wreck moments with Sarah Palin. While I was disappointed that that didn't happen, there were a lot of cringe worthy moments.
Many of those cringe worthy moments were related to her so called "folksy", "down home" style. When she played up that image at the RNC convention, she seemed authentic.
However, when she tried it again last night, it seemed BEYOND phony. I can't imagine any rural voters feeling swayed by that. In fact, I would imagine more would be insulted by the blatantly cheesy wool Palin tried to pull over there eyes.
It led me to believe that a significant portion of her debate prep was Steve Schmidt handing her cue cards saying "Zippidy doo da, yeepie key ay, say it ain't so, Joe, you wappie zappy, ding dong flibberty gibbit, hootin an' a hollering yankee doodle dandee!"
She seemed like a parody of Tina Fey parodying Sarah Palin.
Then, afterwards, the "elite media" she readily criticized, decided to carry the water for her afterwards. Pat Buchanan, after being presented with polls saying voters, especially undecideds, swung heavily in Biden's favour, said that she "connected with the voters".....okay, lol wut. I've never seen someone disregard facts in favour of prepared talking points in such a manner since....well, the VP debate.
A point I felt did connect with voters was when Biden nearly lost his composure talking about being a single dad for a time and not knowing...*gulp* whether they're gonna make it! On CNN the little undecided trend lines at the bottom of the screen went sky high at that point.
So I ask you, who connected with voters better? Biden or Palin?
